Ah, organic gardening. There are just so many ways to define it as it doesn’t mean the same thing to everybody. There are also so many ways that somebody can grow one of these gardens. With so many ways to grow them, you are probably wondering where you can begin.
Vegetable oil can keep your trimmer running smoothly. If you find yourself stopping frequently to deal with trimmer line jams and breaks, get some cooking spray or vegetable oil out the next time you need to refill. Spray the trimmer line thoroughly before installing, and it will feed smoothly without breaking.
Beginning your garden with healthy soil is your first defense against pests! Healthy soil equals healthy plants and healthy plants can fight off diseases with ease. Use a high-quality organic soil and as few chemicals as possible.
If you have enough space pick one row in your garden to contain an assortment of different vegetables. Try uncommon or unusual crops that you wouldn’t want in abundance, but that can liven up a meal that you prepare using your usual crops. Plant crops in this row over time so that you’ll always have a selection of vegetables to try.
Avoid chemicals for pest control. Chemicals are effective but can also damage your plants. You should look for natural methods instead. For instance, you can buy jars of ladybugs and release them on your plants. Ladybugs are natural predators for a variety of smaller insects that eat flowers and other plants.
Wait for the right moment if you plan on dividing a plant. Leave perhaps two years to grow and divide it at the end of the season when it looks at its best. If your plant shows signs of diseases or has areas with fewer leaves and flowers than others, it is too late.
During the hot season, water your lawn a couple of hours before the sun rises. If you water during the day, much of the water will evaporate before it gets a chance to be absorbed into the ground. When you water before sunrise, the water will have a chance to go deep into the soil, allowing the roots to absorb the water.
